Pierce County Charter
The Pierce County Charter is the governing document for Pierce County Government, serving as the county's “constitution.” Becoming a Charter county in 1980, the Charter provides the powers of the County, the people, and its elected officials. County Fact Sheet
The people elect the Pierce County Charter Review Commission every 10 years. Three representatives elected per county district, 21 in total, will spend the first 6-8 months of 2026 reviewing the County Charter and if necessary, recommending amendments to be placed on the General Election ballot in November 2026. Pierce County District 7
Pierce County has seven council districts. District 7 includes the unincorporated areas of Key Peninsula, Gig Harbor, Fox Island, Ruston, West, and North Tacoma, as well as the neighborhoods of Stadium, downtown, Proctor, Point Ruston, 6th Ave, and James Center.
